Between having a 9-5, a wardrobe consulting business and a blog, there never seem to be enough hours in the day for everything I’d like to do, and have the energy to look good doing it.  What little time I do get to myself is usually still spent doing some form of marketing, recon for clients or running a quick errand or two and honestly there are times I don’t feel like running upstairs to put on anything.  On those days when things are so hectic and busy it’s nice to have something that you can literally just throw on, pair with a few cute accessories and be on your way with little thought, thus this outfit was born.  As you may know by now I’m not much a dress person, therefore I don’t own many dresses but when there was a mini heat wave and I needed something breezy to wear I decided to rock my favorite trench coat as a dress.

Not only is this super easy to do, but it allows you to get even more wear out of your clothes which ultimately maximizes your closet.  The trick to transforming your trench into a dress is to: 1) make sure it’s wrapped in a way that accentuates your curves and 2) is secured to prevent any wardrobe mishaps.  I chose to use a belt to create a wrap dress out of my trench, but you can use a cute broach or some slyly placed safety pins for a more shirt style fit and viola you’ve turned your trench into a dress!

Comment below and tell me: Would you wear your trench coat as a dress?
