Snake Print Jacket
Clearly I am still obsessed with snake print since this jacket is the 5th outfit I’ve shared with snake print over the past few months. I can’t help it, wearing snake print makes me feel like a style bad ass! Seriously every time I put it on something with snake print my outfit gets tons of compliments. I mean you see the way this BB Dakota snake print jacket adds tons of personality to this super simple bodycon dress right? Like most people I was really hesitant about snake print at first. I remember seeing it EVERYWHERE! I couldn’t scroll through Pinterest or IG without seeing it all over bloggers and celebs. While I liked the idea of it, it honestly felt so impractical to wear in real life let alone to work as an engineer. And you know I’m really big on buying things that are versatile. That means pieces I can easily wear both to work and on the weekends. Don’t get me wrong wearing snake print on the weekends was totally doable but I wasn’t quite sure I’d feel comfortable wearing it to the office in a my semi conservative work environment at the time. And if I can’t really imagine myself wearing something to the work I definitely take a second to really consider my purchase. Needless to say I wasn’t entirely sold on the idea at first. Whenever I find myself in a situation like this where I’m drawn to a color or print that I’m not sure I could pull off I test it out by buying in it the form of an accessory. The reason this works is because it helps to introduce something new on a smaller scale. A lot like immersion therapy. In this case I took the plunge with a pair of snake print ankle boots and a purse. It gave me the opportunity to try out the trend while being on the edge of my comfort zone. After a while I started mixing and matching my snake print accessories with just about everything. What I noticed was that most snake print pieces, at least the ones I was eyeing up, come in shades of white, grey, beige and black which are all neutral colors. Once I realized that I started treating it like I would any other neutral piece which made it easier to style. It wasn’t long after that I felt comfortable in snake print and started envision how else I could wear it. Before I knew it I bought a shirt, dress, pants and now, what used to seem like super a bold piece out of my comfort level piece, this jacket. So if there’s something that keeps catching your eye but you’re on the fence I say you should give it a try with something small. Then wear it as often as possible! This will help you build your confidence to take on even bolder pieces!
