In general I’m all about outfits that require little effort but still make a statement. Especially after the past few weeks I’ve had. Between getting rear ended, my car being total then having all of 5 days to shop for yet another car this year, simplicity has been my outfit’s name. My favorite way to make an impact with a simple outfit is with a killer accessory, like an oversized scarf. It’s so crazy how something so simple can have such a drastic impact.
If you’ve been frequenter of Lil Miss JB Style for a while then you’ll know I’m not big of “must have” items. I mean let’s be honest, everyone is different and therefore style can never be one size fits all. Buuuuuut, if you’re looking for a stylish and affordable way to update your fall wardrobe I seriously recommend an oversized scarf. Honestly I’ve found almost no easier way to step up a simple outfit while staying ridiculously warm as the weather cools. Plus you would not believe how many compliments this scarf gets me, even when paired with a t-shirt, jeans and converse. Though I will warn you this styling trick is a little bit harder to rock for those who are gifted in the boob department.
The reason blanket scarves are so great is because they are super versatile. See my post on the different ways you can style your scarf this fall. They are also inexpensive so you can buy a few different options to work with what you already own. The biggest perk, at least for me, is that it’s a stylish way to stay warm! A big bonus for those of us what actually get snow. It’s a great alternative to rocking that awkward North Face jacket in the office when you want to be chic and cozy. Personally I keep a black one at my desk at all times, though the guys like to refer to it as my “granny blanket”. Remember the key when adding clothes or accessories to your closet is to choose items that work to enhance what you already own. Don’t spend your money on something because you like to idea of it but never wear it. Also save your cash if it’s not something that you can’t imagine yourself wearing season after season, year after year. Even if it doesn’t cost a lot, it’s a waste of money in the long run.

You look awesome in this outfit, love the scarf. Am I a fan of over-sized scarves? For me, no. It’s something I love to see on other people, but all that extra material drives me crazy if I try and wear it. I did buy one last year, but never used it other than a light blanket to wear around the house.
I totally know how you feel Amy, I’m that way when it comes to bold prints and colors. I love the idea of them but I like them even more on other people.
