These over the knee boots weren’t made for walking.  In fact, the heel fell off one the first time I ever wore them.  Although what could I expect?  I got them for what some would consider a steal from Forever 21.  Thankfully my local shoe repair shop was able to fix it and I haven’t had a problem since.

Often we are quick to throw out what we think are damaged goods that can easily be repaired.  Sure sometimes it comes at a bit of a cost if you aren’t handy with a needle and thread, but often times it’s well worth it.  Especially now with the rise of creating ethical wardrobes.  It’s so important to take care of your clothes.  Cleaning them according to their tags, mending them when they are broken.  Proper care and repairing your clothes saves you time, money and heartache in the long run.  If you take the time to get clothes let out you can continue to rock your awesome jeans and not waste energy searching for a new pair.  By getting a broken heel fixed you can keep wearing your favorite pair of shoes.

It’s so easy to say it can be replaced, but think about how many clothes you cling to for sentimental reasons?  How many shirts do you have from your college years or that your mom gave you yet you never wear?  Yes, clothes are replaceable but that doesn’t mean it needs to be the standard.  So before you go spending money, time and energy searching for a replacement try to find a fix first.

Now I want to hear from you, do you take advantage of local tailors and shoe repair stores?

Thank you so much Elise, from the moment I laid eyes on it I knew I had to bring that bag home!

  1. the color palette/abril

I always custom tailor my clothes because they never fit me like I want. I also like to send my purses to the shoe repair place, they usually add a couple extra stitches on the straps to make them stronger.

ps. If you’re looking for OTK boots on a budget check my last post. I got the ones I”m wearing for $20 and they are really comfy

I never thought to take my purses to the shoe repair guy to get the straps reinforced, that’s so brilliant Abril!! Thanks for sharing that tip with me and my readers 🙂

love this look! those boots are amazing! Also, you’re so right. It’s definitely better to repair what we can and keep our clothes in good condition.

I’m so glad you agree Tianna! Also Forever 21 has the boots in stock again this year.
