Opposites Walk Away

Hey guys, hope your Labor Day weekend was as eventful yet relaxing as mine! I will admit I ate one too many waffles and ice cream sandwiches while at the race tracks watching my Grandpa kill the competition in his Porsche, but I think they were well deserved.  I’d love to know how you spent your long weekend, be sure to comment down below!

Anyways with the last bits of summer continuing to grace Michigan, I decided it was time to remix a look that I did with these shorts around the same time last year.  Now leather shorts can be tricky, especially while it’s still hot out, but they can be stylishly and comfortably worn when you keep these tips in mind:

  1. Pick a flattering fit.  First and foremost, as always, make sure you’re wearing a pair of shorts that not only fit, but work for your body and lifestyle.  There is nothing worse than wearing something ill-fitting or out of place with your style.
  2. Think opposites.  Since leather, and faux leather, is a heavier fabric, be sure to give your outfit depth by pairing it with light, breathable materials that do double duty by keeping you cool!
  3. Pay attention to details.  In sticking with the opposites theme, don’t pick accessories that are too matchy matchy. Instead stick to the same color family but vary the shades or find accessories that match each other while complimenting the outfit.

If shorts aren’t your thing, give faux leather culottes or pencil skirt a try for a modern update to your classics!  Remember, what matters is how YOU feel in your clothes, so if you aren’t vibing with something let it go and rock something that makes you feel your best!
