In case you couldn’t tell, I was a bit of a tomboy when I was growing up which definitely has continued to projected itself into my style.  Though I have girly tendencies, I like to keep at least one boyish element in each of my outfits.  That’s why I love the whole boyfriend fit, boyfriend jeans, boyfriend button ups, all of it.  I love that it’s stylish and comfortable at the same time.  Since the boyfriend trend revolves around looser fitting garments, it can be hard to find a fit that’s right for your body.  Here are my tips on how to find the perfect boyfriend style clothing:

  1. Pay attention to what works.  Generally speaking most women have a pretty good idea of what does and doesn’t work for their body, and if not you can always hire a stylist like myself to help you. Make sure you’re picking a piece that flatters your shape.
  2. Make sure you can move.  Just because you can button your top or zip your pants doesn’t always means a garment fits, make sure you can do all your daily movements in your new garment.
  3. Check that it works with your lifestyle.  Do a quick run through of your day to day obligations and make sure that your piece is appropriate for all, if not a majority of those occasions.
Thankfully you don’t need a boyfriend to rock the boyfriend trend, just be sure that you’re incorporating the look into your wardrobe for the right reasons!  Take a second and check out another boyfriend inspired look.
