Let’s face it, a leather jacket is a must especially during the transitional months. It’s a great layering piece for your casual looks and even gives your work wear an edgier vibe. Choosing a jacket can be a little difficult to shop for but with these tips you’ll be picking the perfect pieces for you:
- Shoulder Placement. Make sure the shoulders of your jacket aline with your actual shoulders, it seems obvious, but when they don’t match your jacket will look as though it’s too big or too small for you.
- Sleeve Length. Just like with the shoulders you want to make sure the sleeves don’t go past your palms as it will look as though it’s drowning you. If you’re buying a jacket with shorter sleeves make sure they stop at a flattering place on your arm and don’t give you the “fat guy in a little coat” effect.
- Jacket Length. The key is to make sure that your jacket stops before or past the widest part of your body, this is especially important if you’re apple or pear shaped because if it rests at the widest spot it will draw more attention to the area that you are trying to conceal.
Jackets are a fun way to add colors, patterns and an extra layer to your look helping to add interest to a basic outfit. I really like how you styled the leather jacket with the booties and the high waisted pants! You’re right! A leather jacket is an wardrobe essential when transitioning to warmer or cooler weather. Your tips are helpful and I would add investing in a quality leather jacket will take you a long way!
I have yet to even invest in a real leather jacket myself lol, but for those who plan to wear theirs 24/7 investing in a quality one would definitely be a good idea!
