You guys I have a confession to make, I literally own two sweaters, which is a miracle for someone who has been a north-westerner all her life.  I have an unrequited love affair where I basically am obsessed with sweaters, but about 99.9% of them are ridiculously unflattering on my body.  This has not stopped me from lusting after them or adding them to my wardrobe, I’ve simple accepted that finding the 0.01% that does look good on me will take a bit longer to find.  When you aren’t one of those people who are blessed with a body that makes everything look good, it can be hard to figure out how to choose a sweater that works with you.  Here are my tips on ways to choose a sweater for your body:

  1. Fit. I preach this time and time again here on Lil Miss JB Style, but fit is king when it comes to style.  Make sure you take the time to find one that handles your curves, or lack thereof perfectly or spend a little extra money on a tailor to get it fitted.
  2. Fabric.  Pay attention to the material your sweater is made of.  You don’t want it to be itchy all day or loose its perfect shape after just one wash.
  3. Versatility.  Choose a sweater that works for your lifestyle, whether you sit in a cubicle or race cars you want to be sure that your sweater is appropriate for a majority of your activities.

Remember that though they say “clothes are made to fit your body” most aren’t, this means finding the right fit might mean a trip to the tailor or extra patience on your quest for the perfect sweater.  At the end of the day you want to spend your money on something that works for your style preferences, your lifestyle and makes you feel pretty awesome too!  See how you can style an off the shoulder sweater.
