If you read my holiday post from last year then you’ll know that getting dressed up for the holidays was never really a thing in my family. The most festive we ever got was an ugly Christmas sweater contest we had a few years ago, but I don’t really think that counts. Since I’m not one to shop for items I will only wear once, I decided to make a 3 part holiday outfit series with tips on how to create a holiday look using what you already own. This first look is my take on a casual holiday outfit which is surprisingly a lot easier to put together than you think. Here are some tips on how to create the perfect casual holiday outfit:
- Start with a statement piece. Since it’s the holidays, it’s time to get a little bolder with your style. Reach for something festive with a fun texture, bold colors or both!
- Use your basics to tone down your look. Remember the goal is casual so instead of going over the top, pair your statement piece with something a little more relaxed. If you have a bold top wear it with some jeans or relaxed joggers, if you picked some bright pants, rock it with a simple sweater or jacket.
- Accessorize. For a more casual look, swap out your statement jewelry for more understated rings or earrings to add a little shine without competing with the look.
The trick is to look bold and festive while still being comfortable. You want to not only look good, but feel good too because confidence is the greatest accessory a girl can have! See how else you can wear a faux fur coat.
