My boyfriend and I met at a bar.  I saw him, he approached me, complimented my smile and asked for my Snapchat.  It was pretty romantic if you ask me. Three non-dates later, so he could be sure I was a sane individual, or so he says, he finally  mustered up the courage to ask me on our first date. And for the first time in a long time, I wasn’t sure what to wear.  Choosing a date night outfit is daunting in general, but in the throws of an unrelenting winter it is even more challenging.  In general winter usually leaves my creativity lacking as I’m swallowed by oversized sweaters and thicker pants, but I was determined not to let the weather stop me from being cute.  So today I wanted to share my no fail casual chic date night outfit that works for everyone, even when it’s freezing cold out!

What I’m Wearing

Anthropologie Hat (Similar)|H&M Blazer (Similar)|Forever 21 Blouse (Similar)|c/o Not Sorry Apparel Jeans|H&M Purse|Saks off 5th Booties (Similar)

There’s nothing more classic than a blazer, cute blouse, and jeans paired with accessories that show your personality for a casual yet chic date night outfit.  Jeans go with everything so the key to making this look work for you is to pick your statement piece then build the look from there.  Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner I chose to do some holiday themed color blocking with burgundy and blush. A favorite color combo of mine as you can see here and here. In this look my blush satin blazer is the statement piece.  By pairing it with a blouse that also had a satin-esque feel I gave my look a bit more femininity.  To balance that out with my inner tomboy I reached for a pair of split hems  jeans, red velvet boots and paired it all with the black “LOVE” purse.  The last thing to keep in mind is to wear what you feel comfortable in and also works for the date you’re going on.  If you’re going to do a lot of movement think an oversized blazer and jeans with some give.  For a something a little less strenuous you can reach for a more fitted blazer with a more relaxed pair of jeans.  The goal is not only to be casually chic but to wear that you don’t have to fuss over and that gives you confidence!
